Frequently Asked Questions

What is "Art Journaling" anyway?

Art journaling is a mixed media art form that is totally personal to the artist. Your art journal is for you. One of the main features of art journaling is embracing the process instead of focusing on the end result. The art you create into it is not for publication, unless you share photos of it. The art journal of today is a way for anyone to play and experiment with mixed media art supplies. It can be a spill-it-all-out-onto-the-page, or a scribble-like-a-kid-cut-and-paste kind of thing. It's an artful way to gather what excites you: color, form, meaning.

How is this course different from other art journaling courses?

Most courses in art journaling provide lessons from multiple teachers with different styles. You create pages like their lesson pages.

In this course, Sarah provides an in-depth exploration of the many different ways she creates in art in her art journal. But your art will look like YOURS, not Sarah's. You can even apply many of the techniques to any mixed media art you create.

This course will show you how art journaling can be a process of experimenting with your art supplies and asking "what if?" as you create. It's a playful, intuitive style that Sarah embraces in order to get out of her head and connect with herself. Sarah's style is eclectic. She loves all of the different art supplies available to us in mixed media. Because of this, Sarah's art journal pages are all very different. So, even though she's the only teacher, you'll learn a bunch of fun ways to create in your art journal.
