Unlock the Mystery of Mixed Media Art-

Your Journey from Wonder to Creation.

Remember the first time you saw a mixed media art piece? Maybe it was a photograph in a magazine or a captivating image online. You paused, intrigued and awestruck, and thought to yourself, 'Wow, how did that artist ever do that? I wouldn’t even know where to begin!' That moment of wonder is where many journeys in art start, but too often, they also end there, shrouded in mystery.

That blend of colors, textures, and forms may seem like a labyrinth of artistry too complex to navigate. You might've yearned to replicate such beauty, to pour your emotions and stories into handmade books, art journal spreads, abstract collage, and giftable items, but the mere thought of where or how to commence left you hesitating on the sidelines.

Hello! I'm Wendy Solganik

Otherwise known as @willa.wanders on Instagram.

I'm a huge fan of mixed media art, but when I first saw this art form over 25 year ago, I simply had no idea how to begin to learn how to make it. I did calligraphy and hand lettering, I scrapbooked, I made handmade cards and stationery, I bound handmade books and journals, I painted with watercolors, I knit, I tried Zentangle, adult coloring books and so many other things . . .

but the amazing world of mixed media art escaped me . . .

until a few years ago.

Once I was turned on to creating my own collage fodder (basically, making my own hand made materials for use in art projects) from a wide range of incredible mixed media art teachers, a whole world was unlocked for me. I finally fell hard and fast for making mixed media art.

It is now my mission to share the love of collage fodder creation with as many people as I can.

We are on a mission to make mixed media art one of the greatest joys and pleasures in your life.

What our happy students

are saying . . .

Do you crave making gorgous yet playful art like this but think you don't have the skills?

You've seen the photos of mixed media art in magazines.

You've seen them on Instagram.

You've seen interesting art journals and handmade books, mixed media collage art, Artist Trading Cards, fun and funky household items, paper dolls, and so much more.

You have no idea how to even begin making art that looks so complex.

We are typically taught to make arts and crafts one process at a time, and the super popular crafts like knitting, crochet, watercolor painting and calligraphy have classes that only touch on one process at a time.

Mixed Media art classes were something that were previously only available to those that had access to the masters of this craft: the travelling mixed media art teachers.

But things have really changed for the better in the past few years.

As a result of those changes, more and more people are experiencing the joy of mixed media art.

But even those changes wouldn't help a true beginner get started and gain a tremendous amount of confidence in this art form.

Which results in most people never even trying their hand at mixed media art.

How do I take this class?

Once you register for this class, you will be directed to a thank you page with a link to click to access the class.

The class is hosted on the Willa Workshops platform on Teachable.

You will have immediate access to the supply list and all of the lessons for the course and you can do them at your convenience.

You will have lifetime access to all of the lessons.

We recommend doing one new lesson every day (or every other day or more) until you have completed the class, but you do not need to complete all of the lessons in order to get the full experience of the joy of making collage fodder!

Who is this class for?

This class is for anyone who has every looked at mixed media art and thought: "I wish I could make something like that!"

It is appropriate for teens and adults.

No art experience is necessary, just an interest in making!

If you are already an artist or crafter of any kind, but you haven't yet been turned on to Mixed Media Collage Art, this is also a perfect course for you!

Are the lessons closed captioned?

Yes they are.

What art supplies do I need to take this course?

While mixed media art in general is a pretty supply heavy form of art, and people who love mixed media art tend to also be collectors of art supplies, this course can be done with very simple supplies:

plain paper, acrylic paint in a few colors (inexpensive craft paints work just fine!), and old credit card or hotel room key, a brayer, a gelli plate (don't worry if you don't know what that is yet, we will show you!), stencils, pens/pencils/markers/paint pens/crayons.

The Path Not Taken:

Understanding the Cost of Inaction

"The journey of self-discovery through art begins with a single step, but what if that step is never taken?"

It's not merely about the artworks that never come to life under your hands. It's about the parts of your own self that remain undiscovered, unexplored. Each brush stroke you don't make, each texture you don't play with, is a piece of your inner mosaic that stays incomplete.
