Why is this book called The Wage Peace Book?

"Peace in oneself, peace in the world."

I created my original Wage Peace book during a time of war a few years ago when I underwent some intense soul searching. I recorded the new ideas that I was discovering for the first time onto the pages of my handmade book and I called that book my Wage Peace Book.

I loved my Wage Peace book so much that I created a second one and taught the method as my project in Fodder School 1.

In so many ways, this book represents my art philosopy:

Making art for ourselves serves to regulate our overstimulated nervous systems, and that is a big step toward peace in the world. It allows us to bring so much more compassion and love into our being when we are regulated.

Adding the meaningful thoughts, quotes and ideas that we come across as we are all on our own journey of self discovery is just as important to my process as the art itself.

This course is the combination of all that I love and all that I do to wage peace inside of my soul.

The contents of your book will be whatever you are exploring, wherever you desire growth and understanding and ultimately . . . PEACE.

For me, creativity is very much about personal exploration of themes that are present in my life. I use the making time as a way to calm my nervous system, and you can see in these books a lot of hours of crafting handmade books, which is a very effective way of achieving peace in my body and my mind.

And there is always another level of exploration that is going on for me as I am creating. It is the exploration of personal challenges. Instead of going to a traditional therapist, I go to my art and to book, podcasts, newsletters and other information where I can glean universal knowledge and truth. When I find some passage that I want to meditate on, and maybe even revisit in the future, I will record it into one of my books. Someday, I will come upon it again and it might help me once again to process something on an even deeper level having the benefit of hindsight.

I created both of these books in 2021. I filmed this flip through video in 2024.

In this course, I will teach you my entire process of creating these books, including altering your own fabrics, constructing the cover and the internal pages, constructing the binding, and then adding embellishments and hand lettering into your book.

You get to make this book meaningful in your own way. Fill the pages however YOU would like to. Add what YOU love to it's pages.

You can use your handmade book from this course however you'd like. It will be gorgeous all on it's own even if you never add hand lettered quotes or thoughts.
